MSU to Community Wellness Development

After graduating from MSU, I naturally gravitated towards personal training, driven by a fascination with how to transform the body. I worked in a gym in Jersey City, where I encountered hundreds of people eager to change their bodies, coming in once or twice a week. As an athlete, I found it intriguing that so many believed this was enough. Despite my best efforts to educate them, I realized the gym culture wasn’t focused on true transformation—it was a business, not a mission-driven space to educate and inspire lasting change. That realization pushed me to move on.

In 2021, I connected with the owner of a local coffee shop, seeking a creative outlet to build something meaningful. I pitched the idea of a wellness community, and we ran with it. Since then, we’ve completed three 5k training programs and hosted three 5k races, including an unsanctioned one with 100+ runners. We've run two half marathons as a team and hosted strength and yoga classes every summer. Currently, we're running our first 10k training program.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting events lined up:

  • December: Hosting our first 10k race

  • January: Kicking off half marathon/marathon training

  • March: TSP relay race from LA to LV

  • April: Jersey City Half Marathon

  • May: Beginning our 5k training program

  • August: Hosting our annual 5k race

All of this is part of our mission to build discipline and community through wellness. While running is our current focus, I believe this approach can transcend into any physical activity.
